Resolution and brush behaviour

Hi TAron
I just wanted to bring up the point about how resolution changes brush behaviour.
I notice a dramatic difference in the way brush 9 for example behaves when I double the default resolution.
Even if the brush is the same size relative to the physical area of the canvas ( for example half the width of the canvas)
At higher resolution it looks very different where there appears to be a lot less paint being deposited on the canvas for example ?
In fact a kind of funny thing happens with 9 at higher res where the bristles splay and the colour thins out
as opposed to the expectation of depositing more material with pressure.
Anyways…I just wanted to mention this and see if maybe its something your thinking about
and if there is a way to maintain brush behaviour at different resolutions
so that the brush and paint behave consistently.
At defualt res brush 9 produces a really nice creamy thick paint….but I can't get the same effect at double the res.as shown in picts below.
The bristles right now appear to be fixed width so that as the canvas res is increased, the bristles get thinner?
I would think that ideally the brushes should behave the same relative to the physical canvas size…not the resolution at which its rendered?
I would love to get that thick creamy paint at double res.
Anyway…...food for thought
Thanks
Stavros

Re: Resolution and brush behaviour

Yes, that is logically the case, because you cover a greater area with the same amount of bristles as well as behavior, releasing only one pixel wide amounts of paint. If you wanted the same behavior, you'd have to increase all of this exactly, which would be cool, but eh...
Anyhow, the new brush system which I still need to make will have this power, I believe. But it's not about perfect scaling, which makes no sense at any rate, but decent and reliable behavior at any scale- if card power permits, of course. :ugeek:

GREAT to see you back, though! It's been a while.
Here to help! :D
