Layer behavior

my busy day at the forum lol Just a quick note to report a layers bug? I was working heavily with 9 layers when it bugged on me. I was kicking back and saw the Verve screen shift hand color from flesh tones to dark and then back. It repeated itself several times before I could save the file. This is not something I cant recover from as I have earlier iterations without the problem and also found that if I create a duplicate glow layer on top of an affected area I can recover most of the shading as indicated in the second image which also shows what happened of course. I can work around this :)

Re: Layer behavior

AHm...I really am not entirely sure about what you're doing there. Could be that you're doing something that could be approached differently without troubles.
If you are using ADDITIVE (+) blending on your brush, painting on an empty layer, the results could be confusing, because it...god, that's hard to explain...it paints the color first into the layer, adding from 0 so to say and then it would start blowing that color up gradually. If you wanted a proper additive effect, you should set the layer mode to (+) instead. You can still paint with ADDITIVE paint mode on such a layer, leading to a very naturally brightening.

Also, in the latest version (sneakily uploaded a few days ago) and the upcoming version, brush #6 is in it's current glory, which is really fantastic for sketching, but not all that recommendable with fluids and only carefully useful with smudging (best with texture!). This brush is truly for drawing! Although I do really love it now, for most "painting" actions I still use brush #9, which remains the most evolved for that matter. The next version will have some improvements there, too, by the way.

Other than that, I can assure you, if a layer is left alone, it has no way of changing by itself, since nothing can modify it. Only the active layer could potentially undergo some changes with fluids on 100% and drying off. This could get a bit of rest motion that can lead to changes over some time, but also not for too long. I set a bunch of traps there to prevent that.
But nothing can or would alter the colors....yet.... next version may have some new goodies for that! ;)
Here to help! :D
