BAWAAAAA!!!

YES!!! Now I can import hand sketches to use as rough templates. (still valid)

Ohhhh, this could be bad! People can now call themselves artists by re-painting over photos and.. oh heaven forbid - painting by numbers!

'what have I asked for?

I can't wait to try tomorrow.

Re: Last version ...t.07

Yes, indeed. There will be a great deal of sudden masters around, I'm sure!
But it also will make it more exciting to find the true masters and some of them are already here! :D

I think it is fairly easy to make out, if someone was tracing or even just trying to smudge a photo, but the only fault would be, if they used it as a lie. Main thing is, if everyone has a blast, that's what counts.
The other trouble, though, is, if someone genuinely makes something amazing or at least fascinating, like my Ziegfeld girls, hehehe, then people could think it was trickery. On the other hand, they could then overlay the original photo and see the differences. Eh...crap, hopefully people won't make it a challenge to use warp and all to fake such differences, HAHAHA... ah well. <sigh>

I just hope everybody finds a way to enjoy themselves with some creativity.

Re: Last version ...t.07

I'm so happy, that you did work on the import-function now. :D

1) good for reimport - I feel, if I have too much layers, its going slow in verve, but with a reimport of a merged layer .. it will be fine too
2) good for importing other things, photos, UV_maps (3D)

I did have made a test too --- its a rendering in 3DCoat from me

Re: Last version ...t.07

Ehehehe, yeah, this is going to happen, too! :D
A lot of things become possible this way. However, re-import is a little dangerous, because currently you won't get the bump back, you know. That means you need to be sure of what you're doing, because if you were to change the light, the re-imported piece would not react to it properly.
BUT I'm working on the dreaded 16bit import, which will make that much easier. However, I ALSO have an idea on how to simplify or optimize the layer handling. Currently it's very naughty, because it just keeps rendering the other layers, too. Since this isn't necessary, unless you're changing the light, I'll figure out a "snapshot" solution for all layers around the active layer. It could get a little bit of a nightmare, but we shall see. When that is done, you most likely would not have to worry about re-imports anymore! ;)
I'm curious about what you'll do with UVmaps, hehe, I'm sure that could go quite well! A tiny bit old-school, I imagine, especially considering that you have 3d coat, but the fluids could do some cool things around bolts and nuts and things like that. As long as you keep in mind which was is up for your 3d model, hehe. :geek:

Rock on, Zero! :D

No, there won't be more masters.
Seeing it from history point of view, it's just a logical step.

Re: Last version ...t.07

It doesn't matter anyway, again, it's just about finding a creative outlet for some, for others it's pure passion, too, but at the end Verve in itself is nothing but an experiment and wouldn't it be most natural, if it allowed people to do ever so many more experiments with it?!
Part of maturing is to evaluate the gravity of ones ideals and principles and to realize that it's most important to stay true to them oneself, rather than imposing them on anyone else. I used to be anxious that my goal to create something believable could in the best case result in something that then might be mistaken for a "cheat", or that all my studies and my dedication would end up not being appreciated or respected, haha. But that was when I was in my 20's, I think. I remember how angry I was at the first appearance of ZBrush back then. I was afraid people would expect such amount of detail on a model in an animation and at that time that was next to impossible. But I figured out how to do displacement maps nicely before even 2.0 came out and I relaxed immediately. When Zbrush 2.0 came out and it was possible to generate them out of it, I was totally in love just as quickly! (Except for the interface, but I should truly shut up about that, shouldn't I, hahaha  )

Anyway, that was digression par excellence!

Funny to realize how old I've gotten, how I'm happy for everyone, who can find a way to enjoy himself/herself and even share that. The little boy in me still snaps his fingers and goes:"There goes 100% art in Verve", haha. But I forgive the little boy! :)

yes this is true, maybe you can also made the merge-process some better in the future    ... If I merge up or down I get everytime a mix of the layers, sometims its cool ... but sometimes I wish me a result like "WHAT YOU SEE IS WHAT YOU GET --- MERGING" ;) I hope you understand me what I mean ;)
