Re: Everybody's First Doodle

That's your FIRST DOODLE? Waahh... :o ...awesome!!! :bounce:
Try brush #1 or #6 for a more PS like brush. Be sure to go through the docs and see, if you find some of what you're looking for and more.
However, the next version will have a fully working mask solution. I'm still working on making it lasso and all those standards, but at least it'll work perfectly including to toggle active state of it and inversion. It's good fun! :D
I hope you'll start your own gallery thread soon, too! I'm excited!

Re: Everybody's First Doodle

I LOVE this software thingy so much. Can't wait until exams are done, and I can really spend some time on a picture.

Here is my picture... thing. Started with the parallell thing, lots of paint and wavy patterns. Suddenly, a crusader! I like his bushy beard. Brush 3 for life!

Re: Everybody's First Doodle

Hopefully this posts haha! Thanks to Taron for making this software, I have about zero experience in drawing/painting but have been inspired to make something! It is supposed to be voyager speeding by a new world some tens of thousands of millions of years in the future. Hopefully this isnt to sub par to post, everyone makes such wonderful things! More to come as I am now hooked! I would love to make aircraft pictures both fanciful and realistic, so hopefully that will be what i post next and I don't get distracted and wind up making a boring sphere or something haha!

Re: Everybody's First Doodle

You have to understand that I can't draw anything other than stick men so for me these first efforts seemed impressive. Sucks compared to most of the others out there though xD. Some things I can't get to grips with yet is the hotkeys, the only undo once feature (because I messed the first picture up so many times haha). And I can't seem to draw any other way but point blank, I've seen some of the videos where there's pain in a sort of arch shape when you apply only the top of the brush but for me I just get one big line every time, can't work that out yet lol.

Re: Everybody's First Doodle

Scott, I'm totally thrilled to see you start this journey like That! c:! ...I oddly dig the piece of Onyx you have there as "Oil", because it looks like a featured gem stone for sure. Your first steps into landscape paintings is all it needs to be to send you on your way, really. I can share with you some tricks and techniques to help you quickly make some imaginary landscapes to hike through as you create them! ;) ...it's not at all that hard, you'll see. The brush settings will get easier to access and recognize with the next version for sure!

SilverLeader, wowsa! That's quite detailed and a pretty good space illustration. The V-Ger ( ;) )is just right and totally does the trick. On the planet I'll be able to show you guys all some fun tricks to make them quickly and have them look even more exciting with some nice simple lighting. I think, you'll benefit from that a lot and you absolutely have the stuff to do some very cool pieces! Can't wait to see them! 8-)

All in all: WELCOME TO THE FORUM to both of you!

Re: Everybody's First Doodle

Thanks Taron! I have brush bias under control somewhat now and I'm just trying to work out why I would ever activate size, I see you have it activated on your vids all the time but all it does for me is just make a progressively bigger stroke :P Also yeah I had no idea what the 'oil' was as I was just playing around with gloss and blending colours but it turned out quite nice considering it took 5 minutes haha i was struggling for a name, but it was black and gooey :P. I look forward to your next update and learning those tips though :D I need to work out the lighting also. Back to the guide it seems :P

I try to watch your tutorial videos but I often get distracted by your painting haha.

Re: Everybody's First Doodle

It is designed for pen pressure, given by a tablet, but in mouse mode you can use the speed of your motion to control the size. This can be very cool, when you get it under control. Don't forget you can control minimum size of the brush as percentage!

Ahahaha, sorry about my distracting you, hihihi... c:! ...I'll do some more focused tutorial videos later on! ;)
