Hello my dear verve-o-nauts and -nautics,
thank you all for your nice comments! Very happy to read, that you feel the stories within these images. And that you like the elephants. =)
Sorry for replying took me so long, but I have quite an "unbalanced" time in (allmost) all areas of my life. Hopefully, there will be some perspectives soon.
Anyways, in reply to Intars' question I made a little demo-video (not a super brilliant image, but I hope the process is recognizable):

http://imanic.net/stuff/forum_img/_charcoal_demo_template_01.vrvhttp://imanic.net/stuff/forum_img/_charcoal_demo_template_01.vrs(not quite sure what exactly is saved in vrv and vrs - so I saved both)
It's mainly brush #9, some playing' with the settings but nothing special, I guess. I think it is more how you handle it. Somehow I convince myself, that I have some dry drawing medium in my hands. The fact that you "read" it as charcoal brings a big smile to my face.
I play a lot with the brush-settings and now use them more intuitively than thinking about it, so it's hard for me to explain the choices. But verve is so deep, you always discover new things, relations, possibilities!
