Re: IMPLEMENT, IMPLEMENT!

That is because it doesn't exist there! :?
I could hook up ctrl + f9...hmmm...or so. Thanks for the reminder! :)

Re: IMPLEMENT, IMPLEMENT!

Today's 1% :P

-i really like that we can apply Warps several times on a layer! Would be nice to add another, a different warp direction to it, without losing the other?
i thought a 2nd, alternative warp, like FG/BG-color, coexisting, each remembering their warp until it is replaced by a new one.
(Wouldn't mind if it was [Ctrl]+[t])
So that you could zig-zag apply them after each other as often as you want.
([Ctrl]+[Shift]+[w], ... [Ctrl]+[Shift]+[t], ... [Ctrl]+[Shift]+[w], ... [Ctrl]+[Shift]+[t], ...) :P

-A Brush option that can be set to either per stroke or per bristle.
When activ, the fist thing each stroke (or bristle) does is picking from its centre :o

Set to brush it would feel kinda like [Shift] smudge, ... but with buildup?
Set to bristle it would reaffirm already existing colors with a new bristle pattern?
i.e. Auto-pick :P

-Aligning ... round things, comes out, crooked ...
... How about an eyeball rig, ... grid? :P The shortcuts could change the iris ect.
Image
Probably more of a personal problem of mine, though?

-Hey, lets have a "hot plate" fluid option for breakfast Verveing :D

Re: IMPLEMENT, IMPLEMENT!

I should probably write down a "todo" list of what I had already planned, but then I should let you have the fun of making those suggestions along side the beautifully bizarre ones "pancake-mode"? :?

<taking a deep breath>
I've been planning a warp mode with various options, including import and export/saving of warp coordinate images! This would enable you to continue with a warp or even create one in one image and apply it to another. I think there are countless exciting things that could come from that!
In that warp mode you also have a specific array of warp brushes beyond the standard ones, but I will try and see how I can keep them utterly consistent with the brushes I will add to the whole app. :)

There is going to be a grid "mode", too, where you will be able to add various grids, guides and snapping methods with some things that sound totally space-age if I mention them now already! 8-)

I'm still mildly toying around with the idea of doing a wee-itsy-teeny-tiny-little bit of 3d for Verve, too, beyond that which is already intrinsic to it. For many, many years I thought it shouldn't be a big deal to put a proportional puppet or simplified objects into a paint app to pose and study things in 3d just as orientation. Part of it has also been lighting, where you could put a ball somewhere, set a few light sources and lighting conditions and it would show you how the lighting "should" be. You may even go as far as using such a ball as a color pallet to place colors on and pick them again (with or without the lighting). Hmmm...I'm getting myself excited about that again: YAY! Because that would make one heck of a color picker, eh?! :D ...imagine you can set an area of swatches around a lit ball and place the colors of such swatches on the ball, maybe even mix them on it. Then you could rotate the ball around, too, to put the color into the respective lighting situation. 8-)

Anyway...so...eh...no shortage of ideas here either, hehehe, but yeah... pancake mode!
Here to help! :D

Re: IMPLEMENT, IMPLEMENT!

Aww boy, ... this was most exciting to read and having the color picker come to life in my head!!! i am overwhelmed!
Image
This would be the coolest picker ever!!! Positively, the very first proper color picker! :o
That thing, in fact, ... sounds way too perfect to ... be just for Verve?! :?
Could you make it, ... external? ... To be piped into other applications?
i would actually gladly pay a few bugs for an PS, Lightwave and/or 3D Coat AppLink ... for starters ;)
May be a nice way to get some funds into the Verve development?

i also love that you plan to give Warp and Grid (Transform too? ;) ) their own rooms/tabs! i see this work out very well.
Image

The hot plate of cause was meant as a joke
Though, i am guessing you already have a "particle age" like vector driving the drying?
If this was accessible (via nodes perhaps :P ) one could do all sorts of neat stuff?
Having paint become darker with time doesn't seem all that useless :P

By now, even the goat tongue brush actually grew on me, as well

Anyway, yes! Every time i think i couldn't be any more excited about Verve you blow my mind, yet again!!! :o

Honestly though, i assumed you'd get right on that and expected it yesterday already
But then, i figured you probably got dizzy and passed out before you had the chance to upload it

This is crazy cool!! ... Not at all as easy as it looked, though

Image

Boy, i love how the same motion performed on different locations gives you entierly varying pattern ... Quite amazing indeed
When i pressed [F4] i almost fell off my chair
This is the first time in my life that i wish i had a 1:1 monitor aspect
Really a wicked feature, dude! Congratulations!!!! i am ever so looking forward to the demo for this one ;)

i am actually even more excited about the general canvas rotation, i didnt even think that this would come out of it

Have to say though, now that the canvas resize is so very intuitive the the canvas rotation feels too stagnated?
It should be like Lightwaves Perspective camera roll, you know? that you really only get as much rotation as you actually move the cursor.
It should feel like you'd touch it?

Setting the rotation speed with buttons also feels a bit odd? ... Would be nice if i could spin with a brush stroke, let go and it would continue the motion? ;)

Also, its well easy to lose the pivot? would be nice if it was placeable ... or lockable somehow at least?

Then, brushes sensitive to pen tilt also rotade? brush #2 probably would be the prefect one for this, but it crosses itself after a quater of a rotation, you know?
It's actually fun to try to counter balance it with the actual pen tilt though xDDD ... reminds me of arcade cabinet game times

Not sure about the light either  ... Seems unnatural that it is tied to the canvas? ... the spec probably would get to crazy if it was fixed though?

Anyway, dude, so much fun! Thank you very much!!! ( Aaaaand, so cool that you post gifs now  What a joyous night :D )

Re: IMPLEMENT, IMPLEMENT!

All proper points, except the light!
See, if you're ACTUALLY painting, you kind of want the light to stay true to what you're doing. You're not going to save a rotated canvas! (Or at least, I wouldn't expect anyone to a...s...k...well, yeah, someone will most certainly ask for that eventually, too  ...but for now in all seriousness, the lighting is part of the result and is best consistent. However, later on I will make a big light interface, too, where you may set whether a light is hooked to the canvas or to the screen...or all of them temporarily or whatnot!

Yep, thought about the momentum thing, but- honestly- I was just shocked I could hook up the canvas rotation so "easily". I was quite afraid of that. :?

So, yeah, the polishing is going to happen next. Oh, and I should issue a warning for dizziness or even sickness, when playing too long with the spinning canvas. I can already feel it... :P

Anyway, figured you'd get a kick out of it. I really didn't expect I would do any of that any time soon! You know me already better than I myself!

OH, and a demo of that, hmmmmmm.... I'm not sure I want to do that  :? ...that would certainly fill up the "dislike" count on youtube!
However, if I wanted to do that, I would most certainly need to run music to it, because it helps a great deal to hold a rhythm! :geek:
