Re: Dev Diary

Hello again ;)
Sorry if that is posted in the wrong part of the forum, but I want to take a minute to wish you Merry Christmas, Happy Holiday or whatever you might be celebrating at this time of the year (for me its good old Christmas). Thank you for your amazing work on Verve - its so good to see tool of this quality made with such skill that it is tiny executable - still blows my mind ;)Reminds me times when good software wasn't necessarily heavy as whale. Old school in a good way!
Hope next year will be great for you (and Verve - let me be little selfish here haha ;)). Also - if you can please kindly send my best to Dr.Petter if you are still in contact with Him. Sculptris still rocks - after years of not being really updated :D
I know its a bit early for that, but I dont want to forget, when I get lost in family business (this Christmas tree will not come and decorate itself... sadly). Have a good one, my best again!

Re: Dev Diary

duly noted and happily received! Yeah, I suppose Christmas would be the name, haha, but winter solstice would do it, too! All good reasons to celebrate and spread some good love around. Thank you VERY Much and all the very Best to your festivities as well and all your loved ones.
I'll let Tomas (drpetter) know for sure!
Hopefully I get a Christmas version out, though! I'll hurry! :)

Re: Dev Diary

Yes, and- eh- nay. I've finally started to construct the brush class, but I'm very, very cautious with my process. I want to make it as neat as possible and consider all eventualities, you know. In the meantime I also took a brief look at webGL, but it doesn't allow full use of 32bit buffers, which kind of puts it out of the race right away. I could and probably will make a little fun tool with it, though. Nothing fancy, but something to experiment with, I'm sure. It's definitely interesting to me, needless to see the massive compatibility it apparently offers.

Anyway, I won't waste too much time with it, though, and rather focus on getting Verve to the next level.
My total rewrite of the interface is going pretty well, though. It's almost fun to make gadgets now and thus far it works very smoothly. You will have [RMB] options and I might add hotkey choice (set) to it as well right away. It's pretty amazing how deep and complicated this stuff can go, if you're trying to make it right. Oh, and it all looks much cleaner, too. I rewrote the whole graphics generation side of it as well, which is MUCH prettier now. But there are many things left to do.
Sometimes I really regret that I haven't prepared a little in between version for you guys, but then... it'll be a whole lot better when it's ready! :)

But it will look different, so be warned! I hope it'll go over well with everybody. I'm trying to make it feel like a pure win, though. We shall find out!

Re: Dev Diary

Thanks for the update. Nice to hear about some of the new stuff being worked on. I'd love to see some more teasers of what is to come to help hold us over!

Re: Dev Diary

Uh, those teasers can only come once I got some of the core straight again. Currently I can't even paint! :? ...still gotta work out the brush engine and some of the new ideas I have. I may or may not expand it to cover non-fluid painting methods, which would elevate the whole thing quite a lot!
But even before then, I really want this class to be pretty elegant for continuous expansion. 8-)

Re: Dev Diary

Ahh yes. I've done enough programming to know the feeling. It's usually well worth it though once everything gets put back together.

Strangely I now feel the need to get back to some of my older, mostly abandoned programming projects.
