I recently found a nice value tutorial.
This guys renderings are so clean, you are wondering if it‘s done by an engine. His style is very impressive and I am quite sure one well known person here will like it as well

Specially the explained connection between value and color, as simple as it sounds, will demystify a lot, or at least helped me a lot to understand working effectively with color layer in other progs.

Rendering by hands is something crazzy!
(not entierely by hands because use of differents layers is somewhere technology!
