Re: White Rabbit CAD

Trivial curious question :)

Say I draw a Spline -Subdivide - Split
Does it possible to transform a curve (segmented) in a Spline ?

Seems there is a bug...When I SPlit a Bezier curve in "3"
a cross appaers in the middle when i press Split! So I have not 3 parts but "4" !!!
The little curve that I move is not 1/3 of the initial curve! :)
sure i can take the 2 little parts but they are not merged! (how to merge them ? )
And as want this third part as New Bezier (if possible of course) I am perplex! :)

Re: White Rabbit CAD

Yes, Pilou, that's a funny problem with the "Tailor" curves. They are really 2 quadratic Beziers. You cannot really reconstruct the center piece, if you split it by odd segments or, well, if you split around the center. It's an issue I'm keenly aware of, but should not be dramatic. It's just good to be aware of it, that's all. :ugeek:
You will not have that phenomenon, if you use Cubic Beziers! ;)

Re: White Rabbit CAD

Sorry for insist :)
And about Merge curves ?
And about transform a curve in Bezier Curve ?

Re: White Rabbit CAD

Depends on what you mean by "merge curve". If you use Cubic Beziers, you can chain them together with snap and then hold "Shift" when touching a handle to TOGGLE connection to the neighboring curve's handle. Hold shift and click on it again to disconnect it again.

If you mean by "merge curves" to create Spline, that's not possible. No "Splines" in SVG as far as I can tell, but even if there were, I yet haven't looked into them.

What do you mean by "transform" Bezier? All existing transforms work on Bezier as well, of course. But if you mean to turn a line or an arc into Bezier... not yet!

Can you make a little gif animated of that ?
I can enable only handles of only one curve in the same time during edit modification so i surely miss something! :)
I see only one set handles when i modify them so can't align handles of 2 different curves snapped for have the good tangency for example :)
I can move Points of one curve and that influencing other curves "snaped" yes but for the moment that is harsard :) (for me)

Ok of the others answers  :)
So solution is redraw over them! :)

Seems something better is use the general handle ? (SHift or not same result)

EDIT : I have found! :bounce:
You must Click as you said on SHIFT (as Toggle key) but you don't see the Handles of the curves when you move them! :)
Alignment is automatic! :ob

I wonder, if we should switch to the WR forum with all of this, but hey...

Re: White Rabbit CAD

Could make a setting in the menu eventually, why not. But by default we purposely don't have it automatically connect. The way one makes patterns becomes more fluent the way it is, even if it seems weird to someone, who doesn't make them.

Re: White Rabbit CAD

An elegant (?) solution for the tailor 3 parts Split :)

Draw any Tailor Spline
Select it - show in the Bezier Info if Length is 3 divisible
If yes continue, if not enter a near 3 Length divisible

Subdivide
Start Location input Length / 3 then Split
select second part
End Location input Length / 3 or middle part then Split
et voilà!
PS I remark if you draw another Tailor Bezier curves and want to input a value for impose it that freeze the program!!! (infinite calculate)
And that is a repeatable bug! ;)
So we can say that input value after dawing a curve is very sensible! Good luck for find the glitch!

Re: White Rabbit CAD

Woot? A BUG? ...I hope, I understand what you mean?! :? ...you mean the "Length" input, when you make a Bezier?
...nope, I do not understand! :|
