Re: IMPLEMENT, IMPLEMENT!

I think I kept a lot of stuff for the brush editor, which is still to come. There you'll be able to play around with aspects of the noise (in this case) that could change the character of it dramatically. But that's just one thing... 8-)

Re: IMPLEMENT, IMPLEMENT!

Hey, may i ask you to let us in about what you approximately have in mind for the brush editor? :P
i keep thinking about bristles and such and would like to suggest things but don't want to think into a completely different direction, rather incorporate into your vision :D

Generally though, how about a "lasso selection" to define the brush bias?

Re: IMPLEMENT, IMPLEMENT!

Ahaha, that's a cute idea, but I'll have something more exciting, once the real brush interface comes into being! ;)
Currently it's all mathematical, which makes it easy for me and quick to evaluate, but later on you'll have that and much more to customize the brush! Cutting the bristles is going to be a major part of it! :D

Re: IMPLEMENT, IMPLEMENT!

Awwww, that sounds ever so exciting !!! :D :D :D i'll brace myself, then ...

Hey, that cool new layer color picking was actually in my .txt :P 8-)
Very awesome! Thank you!!!
May deserves to have its own shortcut though? [Alt]+[MMB]? (i have MMB on my pen button #3 for panning anyway  )

i thought of another pick method that could be nice? An average pick? ... A shortcut, ... lets say [a], ... when you hold [a] and click the canvas, all the colors you touch are averaged together?
I.e. you have white, blue and yellow paint on the canvas, hold [a], click into each color once, let go of [a] and get a bright green. :P

Uhm, aaaaaaallllso, ... the way you describe the new color pick sounds much like the routine that could select the proper mouseover layer? (like [Ctrl]+click with PS's move tool)
... Was an earlier feature request of mine

Edit: Uh, [p] for the canvas color preview works fine btw ... i didn't think of that at all ... thanks ;)

Re: IMPLEMENT, IMPLEMENT!

actually, your whole background color picking desires inspired me to change the color picking finally. I wanted to do that a while ago already. It does not deserve it's own shortcut, because it is really the most direct color picking. It does not harm the old "sloppy" way, thus there would be no reason to keep the old way, I believe (very much)! ;) ...I didn't see that in your text, by the way! :?

The average color picking is nice, but practically used only rarely...so...I'm not sure, if I go through that trouble just yet. :|

Changing layers by picking on an area that has it exposed is nice...I could try something like that in a moment. :)

Re: IMPLEMENT, IMPLEMENT!

Nooouuu, please don't go though trouble duuuude ... i really am just pooling/brainstorming here

... i must however respectfully disagree with the limited practicability of the avarage pick
i often see two hard colors next to each other and would like to have their exact middle value ... i now must smudge them together with a perfect stroke so that i can undo after the pick

When the colors are far apart its almost impossible to get the color within the one undo range
... If i mess up the smudge and tap twice i have to load ... now i exaggerate

... Situations like these actually made me ask for that "morph" mode ... Which was ment also more of a workaround for the missing undos :|

More undos ... or the paint palette would render this pick less relevant though, thats true
Please, really though, do not waste effort on workarounds if you would like to work on the core features, dude !!

Hahaha, no, no, sorry you didnt miss it, i did not post the pick request ... its just something in my messy .txt file in my desktop in wich i hack all the Verve thoughts i have during painting.
Out of which i foist maybe 1% onto you ... about which i really feel bad already

Re: IMPLEMENT, IMPLEMENT!

Uh... :? ... use AVERAGE! [Ctrl]+[Shift] + draw
That requires just one click and one pick and you can undo without worries! ;)

Also...eh...what are you doing? What mathematically perfect painting are you after so that you have to pick the average of two colors that are far apart? :o (i want to seeeee!!!) :)
ALSO, in case of such precise urgency you may duplicate the layer you're on and then modify that to your needs for that... after that you can always delete it again! ;)

Oooohh  ...yeah, don't add more than 1% of it each time, then, hahahaha!

I'm really excited to finally hook up the "real" color pallet. I've got it halfway prepared already! 8-)

Re: IMPLEMENT, IMPLEMENT!

"...eh...what are you doing?"

Image

Awww hahaha, i actually totally exaggerated  ... That scenario happened exactly once and i had just saved, and so didnt even loose anthing.
i thought it was a good idea ... and then ... became disappointed or even angry when you did not like or prioritized it
... i am totally cool now :P ... and very sorry

Good thing that you don't let me get away with such things

Uhm ... i didnt realize that you can duplicate layers? That would totally do it actually? ... You perhaps have forgotten to document it ? :P

Re: IMPLEMENT, IMPLEMENT!

Did I? Hmmm....
...nope, did not forget it:
Taron wrote:...
Layers have only one less obvious feature and that is Delete. Select the layer you want to hide or show, hold and drag right to bring up the Delete Layer requester.
The layer panel itself may come across a bit funny, because the dials you find at the top of the layer panel are always only for the currently selected layer!
Ok, there are two less obvious features now since v0.98:
- merge layers Hold down [Ctrl] to change the "add above/below" button on the layerslide to "merge above/below".
- copy layers Hold down [Shift] to change the "add above/below" button on the layerslide to "copy above/below".

8-)
"duplicate" and "copy" in this case mean the same...

Re: IMPLEMENT, IMPLEMENT!

Awww boy, is my face red
i totally missed that ... this ... this solves so many of my problems at once
And a rather elegant way to do it, too ... Thank you very much :D
You may disregard half the things i asked for now

Although, ... ... That quote is from "The Interface" section ... while i got my information from the "Layers" section ... where it's not mentioned  :P

"
Layers...
[F9] adds a new layer
[F10] goes to previous layer
[F11] goes to next layer
[F12] toggles hide on current layer
[Shift] + [F10] moves the current layer under the previous layer
[Shift] + [F11] moves the current layer above the next layer
[Shift] + [F9] experimental merge of the currently layer onto the previous layer
[Shift] + [delete] to delete current layer

...
