A dear friend once gave me one of those framed, giant, preserved insects. It was a type of scorpion without a tail. One day I took some time to look at it more closely and had this intense feeling of awe, joy and even pride for life and how it evolved into such massive variety into the smallest of details with elegance, function and complexity... all so much beyond our comprehension. Yep...that is art in perfection!

...looks great altogether! But I also see the troubles between working with and without reference. Our mind has to work very differently in those two disciplines and the effort of faith into oneself to work without reference is tragically amplified by any time reference had been used. I'm starting to get really scared of it, actually, hahaha, so I'll stay away from that for a while, I think. Except maybe some nude studies...
